Newborn babies in the UK are currently screened for five disorders at birth. The Expanded Newborn Screening project is working with clinicians, allied health professionals, clinical scientists, health economists and other academics to evaluate whether it would be appropriate to screen for an additional five rare metabolic disorders. To evaluate this we have screened 430,000 babies born across six sites in England over twelve months. We developed the Expanded Newborn Screening website to provide information and resources for the parents of screened babies, and for the professionals involved. The website, www.expandedscreening.org 

has been developed by the Genetics theme in CLAHRC for South Yorkshire.
