Enhancing the Quality of Oral Nutrition Support (EQONS)

Evidence suggests that under-nutrition delays recovery, lowers resistance to medical complications and is linked to lengthened hospital stay, morbidity and mortality. We undertook a project in partnership with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to trial two interventions; ward-based nutrition champions, and a dietetic team working within the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the introduction of an evidence-based malnutrition screening tool and care guidelines. Dysphagia: spreading a patient safety message

Dysphagia means difficulty swallowing saliva, fluids, food or medicines.
