Reducing the risk of blood clots in hospital patients

Patients in hospital are at risk of developing potentially fatal blood clots (venous thromboembolism, VTE). NICE Guidance estimates that VTE causes around 25,000 deaths annually in England’s hospitals. With the correct treatment up to 60% of these deaths can be avoided.
